2020 VNL Will be Postponed Until After the Olympic Games

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19), FIVB has decided to postpone the Volleyball Nations League 2020 until after Tokyo Olympics.

“The FIVB, in close consultation with all participating National Federations and relevant authorities, and with the approval of the FIVB Board of Administration, has decided to postpone the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2020 until after the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.” stated FIVB. “The health and wellbeing of athletes, officials and fans, is the FIVB’s highest priority and this precautionary measure is being adopted in the best interests of everyone involved.”

Initially, Volleyball Nations League 2020 is going to start on 19th May. A new date to host the Volleyball Nations League isn’t sorted out yet, but FIVB is already working with National Federations and event organizers to sort out an appropriate one.

Volleyball Nations League 2020 has now lost its function to serve as a preparation for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, but teams do not need to rest their players for the Olympic Games now.
