Poland 3-0 Türkiye, 6th Win in a Row
In the second match of the VNL 2023 tournament played on June 16 in Hong Kong, Poland continued their impressive winning streak, notching their sixth consecutive win against Türkiye.
The match ended with Poland defeating Turkey in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, 30-28). Despite Turkey’s loss, their opposite player Melissa Vargas emerged as the top scorer of the game, amassing an impressive 24 points, more than double that of any other Turkish player.
According to Volleyball World, after the match, Poland’s libero Maria Stenzel expressed the importance of her team’s victory over Turkey, highlighting that the win demonstrated their ability to defeat any team in the tournament. Stenzel also expressed pride in her team’s performance thus far in the season, noting that they were ready for any challenge that lay ahead.
However, the match was briefly suspended in the third set when one of the lamps in the arena burnt out. Our journalist, who was present at the stadium at the time, reported that the match was paused for several minutes before resuming, despite the issue not being fully resolved. As a result of the faulty lamp, part of the stands were blanked during the match, particularly in the area directly beneath the affected lamp.
