FIVB OQT: Serbia 3-0 Netherlands, Edges Closer to Qualification
On the penultimate day of the FIVB Olympic Qualification Tournament, Serbia scored a straight-set victory over the Netherlands (25-19, 25-16, 25-20). This triumph brings Serbia’s win-loss record to 5-1, significantly enhancing their chances of securing an Olympic berth through this tournament. Meanwhile, the Netherlands, with a 4-2 win-loss record, must clinch their final match against the Dominican Republic tomorrow to keep their Olympic qualification hopes alive.
Tijana Boskovic stood out once again as the top scorer of the match, contributing 20 points to Serbia’s win in just three sets.
In a post-match interview, Serbia’s head coach Giovanni Guidetti lauded the team’s performance in setting and blocking. He suggested that the Netherlands, despite their excellent form entering the match, might have been fatigued following their grueling five-set match against China yesterday, in which they emerged victorious (more details: https://volleypolis.com/fivb-oqt-netherlands-stages-thrilling-five-set-comeback-against-china/).
The tournament’s final day will see Serbia facing host China, while the Netherlands will take on the Dominican Republic. As of the conclusion of this match, all four teams still have a chance to finish in the top two and secure an Olympic qualification through this tournament.
