Russia Legend Lyubov Sokolova Appointed General Manager of the Russian Women’s Team

Russia legend Lyubov Sokolova has been appointed general manager of the Russian women’s team.

“For me, this is a new experience, a new challenge, and a new stage in life. Of course, my main task is to create a team that will achieve high results, win, and be ready. We all expect success and victories from our athletes. To achieve such a result, you need to work hard. First of all, this is a training process. Without the proper organization, nothing will work. Secondly, it is moral and psychological preparation. And, of course, team spirit, good mood, and love of volleyball. It is important to build the right guidelines for the girls, especially for the young. They are our future! More mature athletes also need to be able to motivate. There is a lot of work to be done, but I am full of optimism.” said Sokolova.

As a player, she has won the FIVB Volleyball World Championships twice (2006, 2010) and she is a two-time Olympic silver medalist (2000, 2004). She has also won the European Volleyball Championship twice (1999, 2001).
