VNL 2023 Pool 4 June 17: Match Recap
On June 17, in week 2 pool 3 of VNL 2023, the day began in Brasilia with the home team defeating Germany 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 25-17). The South American side improved their record to 6 wins in 7 matches, while Germany remained with 5 wins after 7 matches in the tournament. Despite the loss, Emilia Weske, the opposite player of Germany, was the top scorer of the match, impressively scoring 28 points in just 4 sets.
The second match of the day was a five-set thriller, with Japan beating USA (23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 15-6) and ending USA’s unbeaten run of 6 matches. Wada was the top scorer of the match, scoring an impressive 32 points for the Asian team to secure their victory.
In the last match of the day, Serbia beat their neighbors Croatia in four sets, improving their record to 3 wins in 8 matches. Sara Lozo was the top scorer of the match, scoring 26 points for the reigning world champions.
On the last day of week 2 pool 4 in Brasilia, volleyball fans will witness Brazil facing off against the United States, with both teams having lost only one match throughout the tournament. Then, Thailand will face off against Croatia before Germany plays South Korea in the final match of the pool in Brasilia.
