Kim Yeon Koung Returns to Korean National Team with a New Position
The Korean volleyball legend Kim Yeon Koung has confirmed that she will return to the national team. However, she will not return as a player but as a consultant to the team. As a consultant, she will be responsible for mentoring players and assisting the coaching team.
According to koreaes.com, Kim said she is happy to return to the team and grateful to the Korean Volleyball Association for giving her the opportunity. It was further reported that the Korean volleyball legend is expected to join the team on April 24.
Kim debuted her national team in 2005, representing her country in the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup. Since then, she has been a key player in the team, helping the team to reach the semi-final in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Kim was the MVP in the 2012 London Olympics. The Korean outside hitter has decided to retire after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, ending her 16-year national team career, and she is widely regarded as the greatest Korean volleyball player.

The next challenge for the Korean national team is VNL 2023, which they will play against 12 nations in 3 pools in the preliminary round. Should they advance to the final round, they will compete with seven other teams in Arlington, Texas, USA.
